Client Spotlight: Langley Lions Housing Society
For more than 50 years, Langley Lions Housing Society has been creating affordable housing for seniors and low-income residents in Langley. Starting with the Alder, Birch, and Cedar buildings in 1975, the Society has built steadily over the decades, responding to their community’s evolving needs.
Terra began working with Langley Lions in 2003 and four years later had completed its first major project with the society: Evergreen Timbers, a 58-unit assisted living redevelopment that replaced two aging wings on-site. The project required extensive community consultation, Council rezoning approval, the relocation of 64 tenants during construction, and securing full capital and operating grant funding. Terra assembled the development team and managed the project from design through to occupancy and operational start-up.
Following Evergreen Timbers, Terra produced an Asset Management Strategy and led a Master Planning Process for the Society’s 5.5-acre site – a roadmap that continues to guide their work today.
Since then, the partnership between Terra and Langley Lions has grown to include several more projects using innovative prefabricated construction methods which reduce environmental impact and accelerate timelines. Recent projects like The Maple and The Oak demonstrate the Society's ability to work with multiple funders and deliver complex, phased redevelopments.
Today, Terra continues to support Langley Lions through their next phase of redevelopment – work that will add 1,000 new units of affordable and supportive housing to the community.
Long-term partnerships like this are built on trust, shared purpose, and a commitment to creating housing that serves people well for generations. We are grateful for the relationship we’ve built with Langley Lions and look forward to the communities that we’ll create together.
