Terra worked with the Society to develop this unique project which combines an Aboriginal artist recovery program and a Fair Trade art gallery with a boutique hotel.  It retains the front heritage facade of the old Pender Hotel while adding a new-build social residential facility.

The building features 24 self-contained assisted living units, a ground level art gallery showcasing the work of artists in the recovery program and a basement workshop.  The project provides a culturally appropriate environment which incorporates such amenities as a Smudge Room, a Sweat Lodge and a common lounge area.  The Healing Lodge is located on West Pender Street, directly adjacent to the Society's 98 unit housing project, Ian Leman Place, which also had Terra as the development manager.

Skwachays Lodge also features a boutique hotel with Aboriginal themed rooms for visitors.

The totem pole which sits atop the building was created by master carver Francis Horne Sr.

This project was a Real Estate Foundation 2012 Land Award finalist.
