HYAD Place

Terra began working with HYAD in 2006, helping the Society submit several funding proposals, identify a site (previously the North Vancouver School Board site) and move the project forward.

HYAD Place is a 16-unit supportive housing project for young adults with developmental disabilities. The project allows its young residents to remain in their familiar community while keeping strong personal networks in place, to live independently in their own apartments but also collectively, as the project features amenity space and a kitchen for preparing common meals. A life skills worker works with residents to plan and develop group activities and programs that enhance practical, co-operative and safety skills and an on-site property manager is available for security and to respond to emergencies.

HYAD Place provides a housing option that is stable, affordable, accessible, furthers community inclusion, facilitates connections with services, incorporates supports, enhances safety and aids life transitions and independence.
