Salmon Swimming On Broadway

The hoarding surrounding the Vancouver Native Housing Society construction site at Broadway and Fraser Streets has been given a bright blue splash of colour.  Four Aboriginal artists, Jerry Whitehead and his son, Richard Shorty and Garry Morin were commissioned to paint the fencing with nature motifs, including salmon and eagles.

The project will provide housing for adults who are homeless and at risk of homelessness as well as an all-nations youth population.  It will also include a new home for the Broadway Youth Resouce Centre, operated by the Pacific Community Resources Society who will provide support services for both residents and at-risk youth in the surrounding neighbourhood.  The project is due to be completed in the summer of 2014.
