Welcome to Terra Housing's new website! Our first website was launched in 1999, so it was definitely time for a fresh, modern look.
We hope our new website will be easier to navigate, especially when moving between the many different types of projects that Terra has worked to complete. We invite visitors to browse through our projects, but we have added an advanced search function which allows you quick access to information about any specific project, municipality, etc.
Surrounded by colleagues, friends, and family, Terra principal, Jim O’Dea, was given the 2012 Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Award at a ceremony on May 3, 2012 during the CHRA (Canadian Housing & Renewal Association) 44th National Congress on Housing & Homelessness.
It is Homelessness Action Week in Vancouver. Fittingly, today, Lookout Emergency Aid Society offically opened their new project at the corner of First Avenue and Main Street. First Place offers 129 units of safe and secure housing, as well as support services, to adult residents with a history of homelessness.
Today marked the grand opening of Sanford Apartments, a 62 unit project which houses individuals who are homeless or at risk with homelessness, and who are living with a mental illness. Terra provided development management services for this project; we have worked with KSHS since 1989 and together have developed more than 20 projects at various locations in Vancouver and Richmond.
Excited dignitaries and guests, parents and future residents gathered to mark the official start of construction for this long awaited project. HYAD Place will be a 16 unit supportive housing project for young adults with developmental disabilities, located on Chesterfield Avenue in North Vancouver.
The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada awarded Terra principal, Stuart Thomas, with this prestigious award at the Closing Dinner of the Annual General Meeting held in Calgary on June 8, 2013.
Stuart Thomas has been a major force in Canada's co-operative housing movement since 1979. He began his involvement as part of a group of tenants who purchased and renovated their building to form Trafalgar Housing Co-op in Vancouver. Since then, he has been a leader in strengthening and expanding affordable housing.
Terra principal, Simon Davie, helped to turn the sod at the August official groundbreaking of this John Howard Society Thompson Region (JHSTR) project on Columbia Street West in Kamloops. Chief Executive Officer of JHSTR, Dawn Hrycun, was eager to launch construction and took a turn at the controls of the excavator.
Terra has previously worked with the Society to complete their buildings Bedford Manor, Georgian Court and Victory Inn.
