Community & Volunteer Work
Members of the Terra team have rich histories of community involvement, volunteer activity, and advocacy work. Terra fosters a culture of community involvement and volunteerism, and staff contribute their time and expertise in areas of housing/homelessness, culture and other community initiatives.
Riitta Gunning has been appointed to the Board of the Westcoast Genesis Society.
Jim O'Dea, Terra principal, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. since 2012. Jim was also recently been appointed to the interim board of directors of the Portland Hotel Society (PHS). The interim board worked with the interim management team to implement a restructuring and revitalizing process of PHS operations while preserving the mandate and philosophy of the organization.
Terra senior development manager, Rob O'Dea, is currently the President of the Oarlock and Sail Wooden Boat Society and was the recipient of a 2008 Mayor's Arts Award for volunteerism, in the Support for the Arts category.
Over the years many Terra employees have "taken their work home with them" and brought their expertise to their strata or co-operative housing boards. Riitta Gunning, Terra's Director of Capital Finance, is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of the board of her condo strata.
Terra's art director/website manager, Nancy Henderson, has been a participating artist in several recent group shows: Outlines at the Summerland Art Gallery, Envisioning Women at the Sidney and Gertrude Zack Gallery and It's A Sheep Show at the Hot Art Wet City Gallery.
